Program Description:
Early Intervention Colorado of the Colorado Department of Human Services and Assistive Technology Partners of the University of Colorado Denver have collaborated to expand the delivery of AT devices and services for children zero through two years of age throughout Colorado. To expand the capacity and available resources of local early intervention teams to utilize assistive technology, this collaborative project provides training for early intervention professionals from around the state in assistive technology applications for children receiving early intervention services. These individuals act as a clinical resource for other early intervention (EI) providers and programs in their local communities by providing assessment, consultation and intervention in assistive technology as needed. They also have access to an assistive technology loan bank. Through the loan bank, they can check-out equipment to try with children and families. In addition, these individuals participate in teleconferences and trainings in assistive technology throughout the year to continue to expand their ability to meet the assistive technology needs of young children.
